Planning application - fees increase
The Government’s Chief Planner has recently announced that, on 6th December 2023, planning application fees will increase by 35% for applications for major development and 25% for all other applications, including applications for house extensions. The Government will also introduce an annual indexation of planning applications fees, capped at 10%, from 1 April 2025. The “free go” for withdrawals and resubmissions will no longer apply for applications submitted on or after this date.
Fees for planning applications are calculated on application type, land or site area. You can use the fee calculator to work out the cost.
Payment can be made (with the planning portal reference number or the address and type of application):
- online via the Planning Portal (for applications submitted online)
- by telephone on 01204 33600 using debit/credit card
- by cheque - made out to Bolton Council
