Support for Kinship Carers in Bolton

Bolton is proud to be part of the national Kinship Zones Pilot - a three and a half year programme designed to transform the way we support the incredible people who step up for children when their parents cannot.

If you're caring for a grandchild, niece, nephew, younger sibling, or a child connected to your family or community, you might be a kinship carer—and you may be entitled to additional support.


What is the Kinship Zones Pilot?

This exciting, government-funded pilot is exploring new and improved ways to support kinship families, including:

  • Better access to financial support
  • Specialist advice, guidance, and tailored services
  • Opportunities to share your experience to help shape future national policy


Who’s Eligible?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are caring for a child who cannot live with their parents
  • Live in Bolton or currently receive financial support from Bolton
  • Have a Special Guardianship Order (SGO) or Child Arrangements Order (lives-with) / Residence Order
