School uniforms
For those who qualify we will be issuing vouchers for School Clothing Allowance without the need to complete an application form.
Vouchers for School Clothing Allowance for the Academic Year 2026/27 will be issued based on the following criteria:
- they are in receipt of Free School Meals on 10th July 2026 and
- will be in a qualifying year (Year 7 or 9) for the Academic Year 2026/27
In mid-August 2026 anyone who has not received a voucher for the Academic Year 2026/27 will receive one if the following criteria applies:
- they are in receipt of Free School Meals at that point
- they will be in a qualifying year (Year 7 or 9) for the Academic Year 2026/27 and
- a voucher has not already been issued
Anyone else who requires assistance with School Clothing Allowance will need to make a claim to the Crisis and Resilience Fund.
The claim form to apply for School Clothing Allowance through the Crisis and Resilience Fund will be available from mid-August 2026.
Criteria for school clothing allowance
We provide help towards the cost of school uniforms and sports kit if you meet the two criteria below:
1. Your child is in:
- year seven or
- year nine
2. You receive any of the benefits below :
- Income related Employment Support Allowance
- Support under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Guaranteed Pension Credit
- Universal Credit - your earned income must be less than £7,400 a year
Applying for help with school uniform for academic year 2025/26
- if you already receive housing benefit or council tax support, your help towards school uniform will be given automatically and you don’t need to apply
- if you have already applied for free school meals, we will look at the help with school uniform at the same time and you don’t need to apply separately
- if you don't receive housing benefit or council tax support, you need to apply for help with school uniform

Payments
We will send you a letter with a unique code and details of how you can obtain your voucher.
- If your child is in year 7 you will receive £30
- If your child is in year 9 you will receive £25
