Upcoming change to Small Society Lotteries at Bolton Council - Licensed premises communications

From January 2027, Small Society Lotteries will no longer require renewal applications annually. Instead, they will hold a continuous licence with no expiry date, subject to payment of a £20.00 annual fee. An invoice will be issued to you two months before the annual fee is due.

Payment of the annual fee is required to keep your registration active. If the annual fee is not paid, we may take action to cancel the registration, which could prevent your society from legally operating lotteries.

Please Note - although an annual renewal application will no longer be required, you are still legally required to submit the lottery return forms. Failure to provide the required returns could jeopardise your Small Society Lottery.

There is no action required from you at this stage, we are just writing to inform you of the upcoming changes. Any updates will be shared with you accordingly.
