Blackburn Road
Carriageway resurfacing works on Blackburn Road (Prospect Street to Asda entrance) is scheduled to commence during the week beginning 12 January 2026 and is expected to take approximately 6 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
To carry out these improvements, all works are split as follows:
- Prospect Street to Waters Meeting Road – 12th January to 23rd January: daytime working, northbound traffic operating as normal, southbound traffic diverted along Waters Meeting Road.
- Crompton Way - Waters Meeting Road – Old Road, night working & weekend working 24th, 25th, 31st January, 1st February, northbound traffic operating as normal, southbound traffic diverted along A58.

Access to properties will be maintained throughout the works; however, there may be brief periods when access is temporarily unavailable during certain phases of the works. To assist with the smooth delivery of the scheme, we kindly ask that residents keep the affected roads clear of vehicles during the working day to enable the contractor to carry out the works safely and efficiently.
Bin collections will continue to take place on your usual scheduled days. Please continue to place your bins in the usual location for collection. Every effort will be made to ensure that collection schedules are maintained throughout the period of works.
As you are aware, construction sites are dangerous places. We kindly remind residents to ensure no one, especially children, attempts to enter the work area The Council would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused to local residents and road users, but every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum. Your patience would be appreciated during this time.
