The Department of Transport published the ‘Statutory Taxi & Private Hire Vehicle Standards’ in July 2022. These ‘Standards’ require all licensed drivers to complete safeguarding & disability awareness training.

Free mandatory training

You’re receiving this email/message because our records show that you still haven’t completed the free mandatory training, even though we’ve contacted you several times.

You must complete the ‘Safeguarding & Disability Awareness’ online training. You can do this through our training provider ‘Taxi Plus Trust2Ride’. Access their online booking system by opening this link: https://www.trybooking.co.uk/BAIK

When booking the free session on the above site, you will need to enter your 6-digit licence number when asked for payment. Your licence number needs to be entered in the box titled ‘gift/promotional code’.

The licence number is displayed where it states 'Number' on your private hire/hackney carriage driver licence identification badge. If you hold both licences, you can use either licence number.

License - Private Hire

Once booked on the training session, an email will be sent to you by ‘Taxi Plus Trust2Ride’. The email will confirm you are booked on the session and include instructions on how to join the online session.

The training covers several topics including:

  • Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).
  • Human Trafficking.
  • Recognising Indicators of Concern & Types of Abuse.
  • Driver & Passenger Safety.
  • Best Safeguarding Practice.
  • Disability Awareness.
  • Radicalisation.

By the end of the ‘Taxi Plus Trust2Ride’ session, you will be able to:

  • Understand the need to protect vulnerable adults, young people, and children.
  • Identify possible victims of abuse and exploitation by understanding indicators of risk.
  • Identify sources of advice and pathways for reporting concerns.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities in relation to personal safety and security.

Once you have successfully completed the session you will receive by email:

  • Certificate of completion.
  • Certified Trust2ride sticker for your vehicle.
  • Guide for passengers.
  • Trust2ride handbook.

If you miss your training session, you will be required to pay a fee of £36, for any further bookings.
