Description

Have your say on admission arrangements for Bolton primary and secondary schools for the academic year September 2025 to August 2026

By law, admission authorities, like Bolton Council, are required to consult on their school admission arrangements, either once every 7 years (if no changes are made) or whenever they are proposing a change to their admission arrangements.

Bolton Council are now asking parents, guardians and stakeholders to feedback on the admission arrangements of children going into reception and secondary schools in 2025-26, or for those children moving school during the school year 2024-25.

We would like feedback on:

1)           Changes to the policy on waiting lists for primary in year admissions

The local authority is proposing to change the process for waiting lists for primary schools only.  This change does not affect secondary schools.

The local authority proposes changes for community and voluntary controlled schools.  The local authority is also consulting on behalf of a number of voluntary aided schools and academies who also wish to make the same change.

The proposed changes are:

  • to only hold waiting lists for one term (current policy is for the academic year)
  • for parents to request their child be placed on a waiting list (current policy is the child is automatically placed on the waiting list for all schools they have been refused a place at.

To view the proposed admission policies please click on your school in the table below.

2)           The local authority is consulting on the co-ordinated scheme for admissions

Part 3 of the scheme reflects the proposed changes to waiting lists as described above.  There are no other changes.

To view the co-ordinated scheme for school admissions please click on your school in the list below.

The proposed changes, if agreed, would apply to the following schools (some of these schools may be undertaking consultation individually - please check school websites for further details):
