About

Moved from Ireland to England before WW2 and joined the British Army. He married in Horwich in early 1940 before being sent to France.

Served as a Private in the Pioneer Corps and was captured as part of the British Expeditionary Force during the Fall of France in 1940. He spent the rest of the war in German prisoner of war camps, including the infamous Stalag IV-B.
