Cotton Manufacturer.
Son of Giles Gee, founder of Moss Rose Mills, Kearsley, he managed the firm, Giles Gee and Sons, with his brother Isaac.
He was a Liberal social reformer and was a contributor to the funds of the Farnworth and Kearsley Reform Club, becoming a Vice-President.
He was a member of the Local Board from its formation and was Chairman of the Streets Committee.
He was a Poor Law Guardian for the township of Kearsley.
He was one of the commissioners of the Moses Gate and Ringley Turnpike Trust.
He was appointed County Magistrate in 1870 - the first Kearsley man to be honoured in this way.
He was associated with Kearsley New Church, giving generously to the funds for the building of the new church, Sunday and Day Schools. In the week before his death he led the procession of scholars of the church in the annual Whit walk and he may have caught cold during the time he spent on the recreation field afterwards.
He was on his way to Barmouth for a few days with his wife and a friend when he was taken ill. The journey to Barmouth continued as it was thought his stay there would do him good, but unfortunately he died there.
