Master cotton spinner - proprietor of Bow Street Mill. He also owned a great deal of property around Deansgate and Acresfield

One of the first Directors of the Bank of Bolton in 1836.

Borough magistrate.

He was the original Alderman for West Ward 1838-44 and so never sat as a Councillor.

He was involved in a dispute over the water supply to Can Row in 1843.

Trustee of Roscow Fold School.
