Description

Adoption Now are seeking feedback on the therapeutic support services they offer and are keen to hear from anyone who has used their services.

Adoption Now provide therapeutic support on behalf of six councils in Greater Manchester. The six councils are Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Bolton Council, Bury Council, Oldham Council, Rochdale Borough Council and Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council.

Therapeutic services can help people deal with any challenges they are facing and help everyone settle into their new family unit. They are available to adoptive parents, Special Guardians [who have parental responsibility for a child / young person who maintains links with their birth parents], and the children / young people they care for.

By giving your views, you can help us identify where current services are working well and where improvements may be needed.

This consultation will also help us to put together a new panel of approved providers who we can call on to provide adoptive families, Special Guardians, and their children / young people with the best possible support at a time when it's needed most.

Outcome

Using the survey findings from current/former service users and therapeutic providers, a formal specification for the new Flexible Purchasing System (FPS) was created, with specific focus on improved access for children and families, and minimum quality standards for providers to ensure good outcomes.

The FPS went out to tender before Christmas and is currently in final stages of preparation before going live in early 2024.
