Planning Validation Checklist

Bolton Council is currently seeking representations concerning its draft Planning Validation Checklist. A Planning Validation Checklist is an important document which details the information which is required when submitting an application for planning permission.

A Planning Validation Checklist helps applicants and planning officers alike, ensuring that the requirements for information included within a planning application are kept to the minimum needed to make decisions: information that is relevant, necessary, and material to each individual application.

A Planning Validation Checklist provides guidance on both national and local planning requirements. Applicants will be able to directly access guidance on the requirements for each element of a planning application prior to submission.

Without a Planning Validation Checklist, the planning process can be significantly delayed as the correct information may not be submitted as part of the initial application. A Planning Validation Checklist makes the entire planning process more efficient and less complicated.

The Planning Validation Checklist must be a useful document for any individual or agency seeking to submit a planning application, so it is important that we get the views of anyone who may use it. Comments received during this period of consultation will be considered by officers and, where appropriate, incorporated into a proposed final Validation Checklist prior to approval by the relevant Executive Cabinet Member within Bolton Council.
