Description

Following on from the 2019 ‘Farnworth Town Centre Masterplan’, Bolton Council have developed plans to improve the design and use of Market Street, between King Street and Frederick Street and want your feedback.

The proposals: The proposals aim to improve the street environment along Market Street to provide a more attractive place for people to shop, live and visit.  The plans show a variety of improvements that will benefit the whole community, road users, pedestrians and cyclists. The key improvements are:

  • A new and improved public space outside Home Bargains, to support our community events programme throughout the year.
  • Wider pavements, with smoother surfaces and improved drainage along Market Street.
  • Traffic management measures on Market Street and adjoining streets to ensure the safety of all road users.
  • More green features along the street, with new trees and planting.
  • Better active travel facilities including segregated cycle lanes between Frederick Street and King Street.
  • Formalised and improved parking and loading facilities.

The proposal will support the regeneration of Farnworth town centre and provide a vastly improved experience for all who use this area.
