Tell us what support you may need

What is Council Tax Support? This available to help residents on a low income who have little capital [savings, investments etc].

In February 2021, Bolton Council's Cabinet Members agreed to increase the amount payable by people under pension age from a minimum contribution of 12.5% of their Council Tax Bill to a minimum contribution of 17.5%.  This means that from1st April 2022, Council Tax contributions paid by residents who are under pension age will go up.

In line with national legislation, this change will not affect pension aged households who qualify for Council Tax Support.

We’re keen to hear from residents that receive Council Tax Support and may struggle to pay contribution towards Council Tax.  There are a number of ways we may be able to help and would welcome your feedback to understand what would be most appropriate and how we should deliver support.
