Following the Prime Minister announcement on 27 November 2021, public and staff in public facing areas, including public transport, taxis and private hire vehicles, will be required to wear face coverings from 30 November 2021.

  • Operators via their booking staff, must remind travelling customers to wear a face covering when traveling in a private hire or hackney carriage vehicle.
  • If passenger numbers are being limited in vehicles, Operators must make this clear to passengers at the time of the booking.
  • Drivers are also reminded to wear face coverings when working and follow the cleaning guidance for vehicles in-between fares.
  • Drivers should be prepared to remove their face covering, so passengers can identify them as the driver, from the picture displayed on both the interior licence and badge.
