We want your views on dedicated electric vehicle charging points for Taxi and Private Hire

Greater Manchester’s taxi and private hire drivers and operators are being asked to help decide the locations of 30 new electric vehicle (EV) rapid chargers for use only by the trade.

The taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) only charging points will be installed next year as part of the existing publicly owned Be.EV network, owned by TfGM and maintained by support services supplier Amey.

Drivers and operators are being asked for their views on a range of more than 100 possible sites that have already been identified, before the final 10 locations in each of Greater Manchester's 10 local authority areas are confirmed. Each location will host three rapid chargers.

The sites can be viewed on an interactive map at gmtaxistandards.com/ev, where you can give feedback. Drivers and operators can also attend online engagement sessions to hear from TfGM’s EV project team and comment on the charging point locations. You can sign-up to one of the sessions on the website.

Engagement session 7.30pm on Monday 30 November.

Comments are also welcome by email at info@gmtaxistandards.com or by phone on 0161 244 1100 by Thursday 3 December 2020.

The initial 30 dedicated charging points – funded with £2.4m from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles and other sources are the first phase of a programme of EV investment in Greater Manchester to support the taxi and private hire trade. A funding bid is also being made for a further 40 dedicated taxi and PHV chargers.
