Money and Debt Advice

Due to government guidance on Covid-19 we are suspending our face to face appointments and invitation only drop in and will be running all appointments over the phone. If you have an upcoming appointment with Money Skills or Money Advice, we will contact you shortly before your appointment date to make alternative arrangements. If you need to contact Money Skills and nobody is available to take your call, leave a voicemail and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

If you have a telephone appointment with Money Skills, it would be helpful if you could have the following to hand when we call:

  • Proof of your income (wage slips, benefit award letters, bank statements etc)
  • Any letters from your creditors (the people you owe money to)
  • Gas and electric bills
  • Any court letters
  • An idea of your regular outgoings such as your rent, council tax, gas & electricity, food shopping etc


We offer free, confidential and impartial services available to people who live, work or study in the Bolton area:

  • homelessness prevention advice and assistance for mortgage and rent arrears
  • dealing with Council Tax and fuel arrears
  • affordable and realistic payment arrangements negotiated
  • advice and assistance with court forms including Debt Relief Orders (DRO), Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVA), Bankruptcy
