Welcome to your world of information, knowledge, discovery and entertainment

Central Library is the largest of Bolton's public libraries. There is a large lending collection, a reference collection, study areas and a separate children's library. Bolton's Tourist Information Centre is also based here.

If you would like help with accessing any of these resources our Ask Bolton Libraries service can help!

As well as public computers, Central Library has wireless internet access, just ask the staff for details of how to logon to Wi-Fi when you next visit.  We have scanning facilities with a charge per page scanned. See the Library Charges page for more information.

We also have regular book groups where everyone is welcome - so come along and join in the fun.

Renew or search for items in the library catalogue

You can search for items by author, title and keyword. There is also an option to refine your search if you find you are getting too many results.

The results screen will tell you which library has the item you want and where it can be found within that library.  The results will also tell you if the item is available for loan, and if not, when it is due to be returned to the library.
