How to apply

To be eligible for an allotment you must be the minimum age of 18 years and live in Bolton.

All allotment sites have a waiting list. Unfortunately due to the very high demand some waiting list are closed to new applications. If you have submitted an application prior to 20 June 2020 we will contact you when a plot becomes available. We are unable to provide updates on your current position on the waiting list.

The following sites are currently open for new applications and will be offered to applicants at the top of waiting lists who are able to take them as soon as they are offered.

  • Moss Lea
  • Settle Street
  • Ainsdale Road
  • Smedley Road
  • Sapling Road

A small number of our allotment plots have fallen into disrepair during the Covid pandemic.  We would be interested to hear from anyone who feels able to take on a vacant overgrown plot that we may otherwise have difficulty letting out.

How much does it cost?

The fee you pay to rent an allotment will depend on the size of the plot. There are various sizes available but an average full size plot is approximately 250m. A plot this size currently has an approximate annual rental charge £60.00.

Concessionary rates are available for the over sixties. Currently this is a 25% discount on the rental charge of a plot. Proof of age may be required.

Rental charges are subject to annual review
