Residential care for children

Children's residential service provides support, care and accommodation for young people aged 10-17 of either gender that are unable to live with their own family.

The aim of residential care is to offer a safe and secure environment where young people can live and reach their full potential and help deal with past experiences.

The council run four residential homes.  All homes have a manager, deputy manager and a team of residential support workers.

The type of service provided includes:

  • Emergency placements
  • Medium/long term placements
  • Outreach work with families
  • Planned respite.

All homes are regulated through Ofsted and inspected twice a year.
