Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton, Cllr Roger Hayes and his wife Jaleh Hayes

The Mayor of Bolton for 2017 - 2018 is Councillor Roger Hayes

Cllr Roger Hayes has been a Councillor for 31 years and has represented Smithills ward for all of that time.

During this time he has served on the Management & Finance, Environmental Services, Education, Planning and Licensing Committees, the West Penine Moors Joint Committee, The Doffcocker Lodge Committee, Smithills Sports Centre Management Committee and the AGMA Statutory Functions Committee. From 2004 to 2006 he was Deputy Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Environmental Services and Area Working.

Cllr Hayes worked in Personnel/HR Management, initially in local government (London Boroughs of Southwark and Lambeth) and then for a range of multi-national companies – sugar refining, plastics, aerospace engineering and food processing, mainly on Merseyside. He moved to Bolton in 1973.

Roger’s wife Jaleh will take on the role of Mayoress during his year of office.

During his time as Mayor, Cllr Hayes will be raising funds for his chosen charities:
