Bolton Council supports a range of initiatives to improve Energy Efficiency in the Home. These are mainly aimed at residents who either own their own home or rent from a private sector landlord.

Residents who live in social rented accommodation should contact their Housing Association landlord for home improvements.

Our aim is to reduce energy costs for residents whilst also lowering carbon emissions from the home.

Schemes in this area of work often change from time to time. We support the schemes listed below as they have a contractual relationship and are fully endorsed by Bolton Council.

The Council works with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) to promote measures available in Bolton and across Greater Manchester. We also deliver schemes locally through our Care and Repair Service. The Care and Repair Service can also provide local advice and guidance if residents have any concerns.

The following are available now:

  • Local Energy Advice Demonstrator (LEAD). There is a portal where residents can input their personal data and see what initiatives they are eligible for. GMCA Retrofit Portal – Feel the Benefit
  • Energy Company Obligation Scheme (ECO). This is a government backed scheme to provide free energy efficiency measures for eligible residents. Working with GMCA, Next Energy have been appointed to deliver ECO in Bolton under a formal contract. Please see the website nextenergyuk.co.uk/apply or telephone 08081690364.
  • There are a range of local initiatives available for residents who are struggling to heat their home or make improvements. These can change from time to time. To see what available now please contact the Bolton Care and Repair Team.
