Reassuring Communities

Bolton Council has a dedicated community safety team who work with partners to improve the quality of life for everyone in the borough. We are a member of the Be Safe Partnership which is made up of representatives from a number of different organisations all working together to reduce crime, disorder and drugs misuse in Bolton. The primary members are:

  • Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council
  • Greater Manchester Police
  • Greater Manchester Probation Service (Bolton)
  • Greater Manchester Police Authority
  • Bolton Primary Care Trust
  • Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service
  • Greater Manchester West Mental Health Trust
  • HMP Forest Bank

Be Safe works across four key themes: Reducing Re-offending; Reassuring and Supporting Communities; Young People; and Drugs and Alcohol.

We aim to:

Reduce:

  • House Burglary
  • Vehicle Crime
  • Robbery
  • Violent Crime
  • Domestic Violence
  • Use of Class A Drugs

Target:

  • Offenders who commit the most crime

Reassure and Support Communities by reducing:

  • Anti-Social Behaviour
  • Juvenile Nuisance
  • Criminal Damage
  • Hate Incidents (incidents motivated by hatred of ethnicity, religion, sexuality, gender etc)
  • Environmental crime issues (eg graffiti, littering, fly-tipping etc).
