Bolton ADS works with people aged 18 years and over, who have an alcohol and/or drug problem. They also work with people who are concerned about someone close to them.
You can contact by phone for advice and information or to make an appointment – an answerphone service is available when the office is closed
You can walk in and arrange an appointment
You can also be referred to ADS by lots of agencies within the community including your GP

Bolton SMS provides treatment and social care to adult residents of Bolton with drug problems. They work with anyone aged 19 years and over and are also referred to as the Community Drugs Team (CDT).
Treatment available from SMS includes;

  • Detoxification
  • Prescribing of substitute medications to stabilise a person’s drug use
  • Referral to residential rehabilitation

You can phone for advice, information and to make to an appointment.
You can call into the service during office hours to see the duty worker and make an appointment
You can also be referred to the service from many other agencies including your GP.

Higher Bridge Project

The Higher Bridge Project is a partnership between ADS and Bolton Substance Misuse Service (SMS). It is for anyone aged 19 years and over living in Bolton, who wants to become drug free or wants to learn more about becoming drug free. You can also receive support from the service to maintain abstinence from drugs.

You can walk in and arrange an appointment.
You can also be referred by lots of agencies within the community including your GP and other treatment services within Bolton.

Bolton Community Alcohol Team (CAT)

Bolton Community Alcohol Team (CAT) is part of the overall statutory Substance Misuse Service. All staff are either qualified nurses or social workers. The CAT provides treatment and care for anyone aged 18 years and over living in Bolton who has an alcohol problem.
The CAT can also offer access to home and/or in-patient detoxification and referral to residential rehabilitation.

Access to the Community Alcohol Team (CAT) is through the ADS service where you will be assessed and depending on the severity of your alcohol a problem, a subsequent referral to the CAT can be made.
Ask your GP or any other agency you may be in contact with to refer you to ADS, Wood Street, Bolton.

360° - young people’s specialist substance misuse service

360° give help to young people (under the age of 19), their families and friends in a number of situations. They can give you time to talk about what’s going on in your lives, how drugs and/or alcohol are affecting you, how you'd like things to change and how you might start making changes. This is done with a worker who is skilled and experienced.
