Read here for your Roundup of events over the last few months!

A huge number of exciting cultural events and activities have taken place over the past few weeks…here is your round up!

Rock hall has been a hive of activity, from open days and HAF afternoons, to festivals.

The creativity of our visitors never fails to impress and inspire us, with open days having seen the making of beautiful clay models, nature mobiles, and ceramic pots. Colouring pages have also been available for relaxing art therapy, and our carrom boards have been the site of many a match so far. In addition, HAF afternoons have provided a popular playtime with crafts and games, cooking, bikeability and even a kickabout brought to you by BWFC!

The South Asian Heritage Festival and the Festival of Water brought thousands of visitors to Moses Gate and to Rock Hall. With giant puppets, beautiful dancing, and spirited music, performers produced an electric atmosphere and even inspired a flash mob or two. The park and hall played host to many an activity and craft including henna, printing, marble art, and pond dipping. This prompted many to both explore and celebrate the natural world around us, and the cultures that call it home.

National Play Day took place on Wednesday the 6th of August. Playtime is vital for the health and wellbeing of children and young people. It promotes socialisation and creativity and encourages children and young people to feel valued. The theme of this year’s event was ‘Spaces for Play’ and what better space than Moses Gate Country Park. Thank you to all those who joined us for crafts, giant garden games, music and more!

Smithills Hall events have provided Bolton with a wealth of culture to explore and enjoy.

The dog show saw man’s best friend take centre stage as dogs from all through the town showed their best side in show. Dog-themed stalls, caterers, and beautiful weather also played their role in making this event a fabulous success.

Bolton’s love of green spaces and the arts was on full display in July.

The annual Garden Party bustled with attendees who enjoyed the crafts, stalls, activities, and trails. Guests also picnicked like pros in the excellent weather!

Smithills provided an enchanting setting for an outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, with a captive audience relishing the story of love, fate, and family feuds.

The Bolton Museum Gallery has new exhibition…Reebok is back in town!

The new temporary exhibition at the Bolton Museum is open tells the story of how the company became a roaring international success with Bolton playing a central role. The gallery walls are sporting an incredible display of vintage trainers, a brand-new documentary, and even some BWFC kit. Whether you’re an athlete, a history buff, a raging sneakerhead, or just looking to learn something new, there’s something for you at the temporary exhibition gallery right now.

The Early Doors Club has expanded into Bolton!

It’s official! The 31st of July has seen afterwork gigs land in Bolton with a bang!  The Northern Monkey Club in Nelson square was the venue for the first Bolton gig, with great music and a fabulous atmosphere providing a chance for all attendees to let their hair down. The Early Doors Club has a pay-what-you-can policy, so attendance won’t break the bank, and mid-week evenings spent doomscrolling are set to become a thing of the past!
