Bolton's Local Offer
Along with health services, parents and young people, we have all been involved in developing Bolton's Local Offer.
Access the Local Offer
Bolton Information Advisory Service (IAS) and Bolton Parents Carers are working together to provide support to parents of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
A weekly bulletin is published with information about the support available to families, as well as up to date Government advice and guidance.
Bolton Council's response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak can be found in our daily update.
We are redeveloping the Local Offer and we are looking for feedback from children/young people with SEND, and their parents, to make sure that the Local Offer meets everyone's needs. Please take the time to complete our short survey.
What is a local offer?
The purpose of the Local Offer is to provide a single point for information to help families access details about services available to them, and offer guidance in multiple areas, such as:
The Local Offer also includes guidance for parents when they need to speak with practitioners and professionals and information on giving feedback, raising concerns and making complaints.
Engaging parents, children and young people
Parents and young people have been actively involved during planning, building and testing phases of the Local Offer website. Here's some feedback we've received during our consultation days:
Local Offer consultation with parents and young people
Bolton collects basic information about a child's needs on a database known as 'The Record'. This is used to inform future service development and to ensure that the Local Authority collates and keeps accurate records about a child’s needs. A Parent Information and Support Worker coordinates the Record and can be contacted on 01204 337102.
Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Strategy
The document details our strategy to deliver the SEND reforms effectively and improve outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
DfE special provision capital fund
This plan details how Bolton intends to invest the DfE Special Provision Capital Fund in order to enhance local provision for children with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities. We hope that this will enable us to meet the needs of an increasing number of children and young people within Bolton, enabling them to achieve well and lead happy and fulfilled lives.
