How to borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks

Our eBook and eAudiobook service allows you to download eBooks onto your computer, eBook reader, tablet or smartphone. We offer an extensive eBook and eAudiobook download service in partnership with Greater Manchester Libraries and BorrowBox.

Our eBooks and eAudiobook titles are completely free to borrow and there are no overdues. Loans simply expire after three weeks.

You can borrow up to six eBooks and six eAudiobooks at any one time.

To use this service you will need:

  • to be a member of Bolton Libraries - anyone who lives, works or studies in Bolton can join the library online
  • your library card number – this 8 digit number prefixed with 16P (e.g. 16P01234567) can be found on your library card underneath the barcode
  • your PIN -this is the first four digits of your date of birth, unless you have changed it. If you have forgotten your PIN please use contact us for assistance
  • to have access to the internet

Access Borrowbox

If there is a title you are interested in that isn’t on Borrowbox, e-mail libraries@bolton.gov.uk quoting the author, title and format (eBook or eAudiobook). We will contact the Borrowbox team to see if the title is available so that it can be added to the collection.

Please note: unfortunately not every title is available for us to add to our collection.
