The Westhoughton Town Council has been accredited with a Local Council Foundation Award by the National Association of Local Councils' Accreditation Panel. 

The Town Council  is delighted that it is the first Parish Council in the Lancashire Parish Council area  to have achieved this prestigious award, which reflects the continuous high standards and professionalism of its work.

The Town Council has obtained the Local Council Foundation Award  by completing modules and tasks with a very strict criteria, which show that it is well managed . The Town Council has demonstrated  that it is representative of and actively involved in the community, and that it operates in an efficient manner in all aspects of its work, including legalities, finance and administration, with councillors and officers upholding a high standard of conduct . 

Councillor Arthur Price, Leader of the Council  said  “Achieving this Local Council Foundation Award is great news for the Council and the Town Clerk, Mrs Christine Morris, who have worked so hard to continue to maintain such high standards. We are all very proud of this national recognition for the Council.”
