Looking after the Bolton family
Bolton council works hard to keep children and young people with their birth families in a safe, nurturing and supportive home.
However, sometimes children cannot live at home and that is when the council will become involved and look at finding them an alternative place to live. This can be with a family (foster carers), in a family setting (residential homes), or with a birth relative of the child.
We have an obligation to ensure that these children are happy, safe and well and thrive at school and at home.
The children range from newborn babies through to young adults, they can stay with us for a few weeks or months, others stay with us until they reach adulthood, whilst some children are adopted.
At every stage of a child or young person's development, we aim to ensure that they are getting all the help and support they need to develop and grow.
