Waggon Road Young People's Centre offer a range of free and safe child centred play provision across the borough offering activities within local communities for children & young people aged 4-13 years. There are opportunities after school and during holidays where children & young people can take part in lots of different activities including:
- arts and crafts
- sports
- drama
- trips
- residentials
- accredited activities
This gives the children and young people attending the opportunity to build skills and develop their confidence in a welcoming environment. All structured activities are led and chosen by young people for young people and aim to develop their; Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative and Emotional (SPICE) skills.
Many of our activities are focused around children and young people understanding and valuing their communities. We take a multiagency approach utilising the skills of statutory and voluntary partners including Greater Manchester Police (GMP), Sport and Active Living and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, to support children and young people's health and well being.
To ensure the highest quality service, we are signed up to the voluntary Ofsted Register for all of our drop in sessions.
On the first visit the parent/carer must accompany the child/young person to the session and complete a registration form.
Children aged 4 and 5 years must be signed in and out of the scheme by a named adult.
Places on sessions are issued on a first come - first served basis.
