Road safety - cycle training

Cycle training for children

Cycle training for children

Cycle training to "Bikeability" level 2 national standard is available to children attending primary schools in Bolton. Courses are directly arranged through schools and are aimed at children in year 6, although in some instances year 5 children may be able to take part.

Training is delivered on behalf of the council by a nationally accredited cycle training organisation. As Bolton Council has secured cycle challenge grant funding for 2010/11 there is no charge for children taking part in a Bikeability level 2 course arranged between primary schools in Bolton and the council's appointed training organisation.

Children taking part are required to have a cycle helmet and roadworthy bicycle. As the bulk of the training provided takes place on local roads near the school, it is essential that your child is able to balance and control a bicycle.
