Recycling, rubbish and waste

Bolton Council is committed to reducing and recycling our waste and with your help we are recycling 30% of it.

By entering your post code to either the homepage (see map) or the 'My House' tab you can access your bin collection days alongside all sorts of useful information like your nearest recycling points.

We no longer provide collections for white goods due to the Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) directive. However, Bolton Community Transport and Furniture Services provide a collection service and should be contacted directly (see link on right).

Bolton Community Transport and Furniture Services charge for this service but if residents wish to avoid a charge they can:-

  • Take their items to their nearest Household Waste and Recycling Centre free of charge or
  • If they are purchasing a replacement item, such as a washing machine, speak to the supplier who may take away the old machine. This too is often free of charge.

Items they will remove are listed below:-

  • Fridges
  • Freezers
  • Washing machines
  • Dryers
  • Dishwashers
  • Cookers (electric and gas)
  • Microwaves

If you wish to contact Bolton Community Transport and Furniture Services their contact number is 01204 393777 or 01204 364777, their opening hours are 9:00am til 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

Payment can be taken over the telephone or in person at Unit 4 Lecturers Close, off Lever Street, Bolton or their furniture store opposite Aldi on Market Street, Farnworth.
