Instrumental and vocal exams
Bolton Music Centre is an accredited centre for the Trinity Guildhall Examination Board. There are assessments for those who have recently started to develop their instrumental or vocal skills through a tiered programme of grade examinations for all instruments and voice across nine levels from Initial to Grade 8.
The candidate is at the heart of all our work and Trinity Guildhall's examiners, all of whom are professional musicians and fully trained assessors, will do all they can to make candidates feel relaxed in the examination room. They place an emphasis on evaluating what candidates can do and seek to make the assessment experience as positive as possible.
The examinations usually take place in the familiar surroundings of Bolton Music Centre. Examination sessions are held towards the end of each term. Teachers will suggest that students prepare for an examination at the appropriate point in their tuition. Students may not necessarily take all levels of the examinations as teachers also place emphasis on variety of repertoire, technique and musical genres.
We are also a centre for "Rock School" exams for our drum and guitar students. These examinations assess performance and technical skills from beginner to accomplished performer.
All examinations are subject to an entrance fee as set by the examining board, there may also be a charge for an accompanist if one is needed.
