The Council cuts grass on Council owned land to keep areas looking clean and tidy and to ensure that people can use roads and pavements safely. Although environmental issues are of paramount importance, grass cutting of Highway verges is actually carried out for highway safety reasons rather than environmental purposes. In 2011 the Council agreed a reduction in grass cutting frequencies in order to make savings of £1.729 million from the Neighbourhood Services budget.
Grassed areas we maintain include:
- Highways
- Verges
- Public open space
- Schools
- Parks
- Town centres
- Memorial gardens
To report any problems with grass, please use the do it online link or contact us using the details and we will investigate the matter.
