The Bolton Looked After Virtual Schools monitor and support the education of looked after children and young people wherever they attend school. The Virtual School mission is to improve the academic attainment of Bolton Looked After Pupils. 

The 3 Virtual Schools meet regularly to assess how our children are progressing and by drawing upon the knowledge of a wide range of professionals can provide quality help and support where it is required.
These professionals will include:
• Head Teachers
• Social Workers
• Specialist learning mentors 
• Employment/work experience specialists
• Emotional health workers
• Leisure/sports workers
• Health professionals
• Administrators

The Virtual Schools can provide:
• Personal Education Planning on every individual pupil
• Advice and support to social workers, foster carers and teachers about all education issues
• Help with finding the right school placement
• Help with exclusions
• Computers (subject to appraisal)
• Homework support, individual tuition, extra lessons and support for exams
• Access to a range of courses and benefits for young people who want to go into further education or training
• Help with accessing school based Pupil Premium Grants
• Help with further education (FE) bursaries
• Assistance with planning Higher Education (HE) routes and funding
• Help to find suitable out of school activities for young people
• Activities and resources to develop personal skills and encourage literacy among the children and young people we look after
• Employment and training support
• Work experience placements for those who have left school or are in Years 10 and 11
• Achievement awards – for young people who overcome hurdles and barriers to their learning
