Council tax benefit - renewal

You do not need to renew your claim for Council Tax Benefit as we will automatically work out how much you are entitled to when the rates change in April.

At any time we may send you a form so that we can check to see if your details are still the same. These forms are called interventions or sometimes known as postal checks.

It is important that you complete and return any form we send to you as your benefit may be affected if you don’t.
You also need to provide evidence to confirm the information on your form.

See the ‘evidence for interventions’ link on the right for more information.

Someone has called to check my benefit details. Is this normal?

Instead of sending you a form to complete, a visiting officer may call to check your benefit details with you. The visiting officer will show you their identity card and will ask to see proof of your income and capital.

Important information:

If your details have changed since the last time that you claimed or completed a form you must report these changes to us as soon as possible.

Contact us straight away if you need help completing your form.
