Bolton has a long history of working in partnership to make a difference to the lives of local people. This work is led by the Bolton Vision Partnership, which seeks to deliver Bolton’s Community Strategy, Bolton: Our Vision 2012-15.

Bolton: Our Vision 2012-15 has two main aims:

  • Achieve economic prosperity and maximise the local benefit
  • Narrow the gap in outcomes between the least and most well off

This work aims to improve outcomes across six priority themes:

  • Prosperous
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Children and young people
  • Clean and green
  • Safe
  • Stronger

And across five cross-cutting themes:

  • Aspiration
  • Alcohol
  • Skills
  • Complex families
  • Community Cohesion

The successful delivery of the Community Strategy is the way in which the partnership, and the council as a member of the partnership, holds itself to account.

We regularly engage with the Vision Steering Group around how we are doing and performance is reported to Councillors twice a year. Reports are available on the Committee Management Information System (see Links tab).

In addition, central government conducts a range of inspections of council care services, and services for children and young people. Information is available from the Care Quality Commission and Ofsted, whose websites can be accessed from the Links tab.
