Women of all ages in Halliwell are encouraged to take part in a community event this Saturday (October 23).
The ‘Halliwell Women Together’ event, taking place at Brownlow Fold Community Learning College on Eskrick St from 11am-3pm, has been organised by the Bolton Council and other local organisations.
The aim of the event is to bring together local women to build on the strong community spirit in Halliwell. The event will allow women to have time out from their busy lives to do something for themselves, talk to local services and learn about what’s going on in their area.
The event will be opened by Councillor Linda Thomas, Bolton Council's Executive Member for Corporate Resources, and will include performances from: Halliwell Street Dancers; Shpresa Bollywood dancers; and a monologue from Monica Ballani, a Halliwell resident.
There are also a number of free workshops which women can take part in on the day including: healthy cooking; yoga; colour analysis; get fit with Wii; arts workshops; and mini pamper sessions. All workshops must be booked in advance on 01204 907800.
Busy mothers can also get involved in the event, as there are free crèche facilities provided for children aged 2 to 5. These facilities must also be booked in advance on 01204 907800.
Councillor Thomas said: “This event will be a brilliant opportunity for women in Halliwell to take some time out of their busy schedules, treat themselves and forge links with other women in the area.
"We already have a strong community spirit in this area, but events like this help to boost community relations and inspire local women to join together and make a difference in Halliwell.”
