Bolton town hall will come to life at dusk on Saturday night, flooded with light and animation and set to the Acid Brass sounds of the famous Fairey Brass Band.
The event is free and open to everyone, marking the extension of Virgin Media’s ultra-fast 50Mb broadband and digital TV services in Bolton. The event is being supported by Bolton Council and a number of local businesses from Bolton’s creative industries.
Bolton town hall will be the setting for an amazing lightshow which will be set to the quirky sounds of Acid Brass. With their brass band versions of acid house classics the Fairey Brass Band aim to get the crowd in Bolton dancing on Saturday evening.
Jon James, Virgin Media’s broadband director said: “We have created this event to mark the completion of our network upgrade activity in Bolton and to welcome Boltonians to a world of entertainment. We wanted to ensure the people of Bolton were central to the project so we asked local design agencies, film companies and theatre groups to contribute their films to the lightshow. It’s an ideal opportunity for local creative business’ to showcase their talent while helping Bolton to raise its profile in its bid for city status.”
Councillor John Byrne, Bolton Council’s Executive Member for Development and Regeneration, said: “We think this will be a great event, which ties in really well with our own town centre events programme. Our town hall is a landmark building and we’re really looking forward to seeing it as the centre piece of this light spectacle.”
Subscribers to the new service can enjoy 50Mb broadband, download an album in 11 seconds and a TV show in around one minute. Virgin Media's Bolton store is in Victoria Plaza on Oxford Street.
