Westhoughton Market is hosting a Victorian themed day on Saturday, December 3.
Traders have arranged a packed programme of traditional festive activities to entice shoppers.
A juggler will entertain visitors, traders will dress in Victorian costume and Father Christmas will be making an appearance from 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm.
Free entertainment will be provided by Wingates brass band in the morning and performers from AJ Dancers will show off their singing and dancing skills in the afternoon.
Face painting and traditional games for all the family to join in will be available and shoppers can win a Christmas hamper.
A local produce market with 19 regional traders will join the market’s 33 stallholders on Saturday, providing shoppers with a wide range of produce to choose from.
Bolton Council’s Executive Member for Environmental Services, Councillor Akhtar Zaman, said: “I’d encourage everyone to visit Westhoughton Market this Saturday. The traders have put a lot of effort into organising the Victorian themed day and I’m sure it will be a great success. The market has gone from strength to strength in recent months and events like this provide an additional boost.”
The council has recently extended opening hours on Thursdays and the market is now open on Fridays.
The council also invested £4,000 in a canopy, signage and doors earlier this year to boost the market.
All the stalls are now occupied and shoppers can buy produce including: video games; retro sweets; shoes; bedroom furniture; lingerie; health foods; baby gifts and mobile phone accessories.
Westhoughton Market is open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 5pm and Thursdays until 7pm.
