Update about services during bad weather

Bolton Council services for today (22 March).

Bin collections

We are collecting waste and recycling today (22 March).

All crews are currently out collecting as usual.  It is possible that there may be disruption to the service should the weather continue to worsen.  We will advise of any further changes.

The gritting vehicles cover 510km of roads which is just over half of the total road network. Ploughs are deployed where snow is 2.5cm deep or greater.

Maps showing the roads which we grit and your nearest grit bin can be found using the link on the right hand side.

Follow the link on the right hand side for the current gritting status.  You can sign up to email alerts about gritting too.

The decision to close a school is taken by the headteacher in consideration of the individual circumstances at their own premises.

During term-time, when there is bad weather, parents should contact the school directly for the most up-to-date information.  A list of school contact numbers are available at www.bolton.gov.uk/schooldirectory

We are currently aware of the following school closures:

  • Rivington and Blackrod high school
