A section of Turton Road, in Bolton, will be closed on Friday night (Jan 28) for emergency bridge repairs.
A vehicle collided with the railway bridge at the junction of Turton Road and Chapeltown Road earlier this week and as a result Network Rail needs to make urgent repairs to the bridge.
The section of road under the railway bridge is to be closed from 10pm on Friday, January 28 to 6am on Saturday, January 29 to enable the work to be carried out as quickly and safely as possible.
Motorists are advised to avoid the road and use alternative routes which will be signposted.
Diversions will be in place via Darwen Road to Blackburn Road, from there to Crompton Way, and from Crompton Way to Tonge Moor Road through to Turton Road.
