Work to improve Trinity Street, in Bolton starts on Monday (September 28).
The £650,000 scheme involves resurfacing the road between Manchester Road and Trinity Retail Park on Blackhorse Street.
Improvements are expected to take three weeks to complete dependent on weather conditions. Works have been timed to take place during off-peak hours to keep disruption to a minimum.
The section of road being resurfaced each night will be closed for safety reasons and diversion routes will be signed. Roads will be closed from 7.30pm to 4am, apart from on October 12 and 13 when works are taking place at the junction of Trinity Street, Thynne Street and Newport Street. The road will be closed from 10.30pm to 4am for these works.
Motorists are being advised to allow extra time for their journey.
