Work to improve a section of Bridge Street starts on Monday, June 18, as part of Bolton Council’s on-going investment in the town centre.
The work is part of a wider scheme which will also see improvements to sections of Topp Way and Higher Bridge Street.
Resurfacing on Bridge Street, between Bow Street and Topp Way, is the first part of the scheme to get underway.
The work is expected to take two weeks to complete subject to weather conditions.
Work will start on Monday, June 18 from 6pm to 7am, and then take place daily from 6pm to 11pm, except for Sundays when working hours are 7.30am to 6pm.
To keep disruption to a minimum, Bridge Street will be open to traffic during the day, and no road closures will be in place.
For work to take place safely overnight, Bridge Street will be closed, in one direction, from St George’s Road to Bow Street.
This will only affect buses and bus passengers are advised to check with bus companies before travelling because some services may be affected.
From Friday, June 22, an overnight road closure will be in place on Bridge Street, from its junction with Topp Way to its junction with St George’s Road and St George’s Street.
Diversions will be sign posted and businesses have been notified.
Work on the remainder of the scheme will start in July. The work is part of Bolton Council’s town centre transport strategy and maintenance programme.
Businesses and motorists are asked to be patient while the work is underway. Contact Bolton Council’s helpline for further information.
