Work to improve a section of Topp Way starts on Sunday, July 1, as part of Bolton Council’s on-going investment in the town centre.
The work is part of a wider scheme which has already seen improvements carried out to a section of Bridge Street.
Resurfacing on Topp Way, between St Peter’s Way to its junction with Higher Bridge Street, is the second part of the scheme to get underway.
The work is expected to take two weeks to complete subject to weather conditions.
In an effort to keep disruption to a minimum, the work has been scheduled to take place on Sundays and during off-peak hours.
Work will start on Sunday, July 1 from 7.30am to 6pm, and will then take place daily from 6pm to 11pm. Sunday working hours will remain 7.30am to 6pm.
For work to take place safely, lane closures will be in place during these hours.
From July 1 to July 7, Topp Way will be closed to motorists travelling from St Peter’s Way into the town centre. It will remain open to those wanting to get onto St Peter’s Way.
From July 8 to July 15, Topp Way will be closed for motorists travelling from Higher Bridge Street/Bridge Street to St Peter’s Way. Traffic will still be able to come into the town centre from St Peter’s Way.
Diversions will be sign posted and businesses have been notified.
The last phase of the scheme to get underway will be the resurfacing of a section of Higher Bridge Street. This is due to start later in July.
The work is part of Bolton Council’s town centre transport strategy and maintenance programme.
Businesses and motorists are asked to be patient while the work is underway. Contact Bolton Council’s customer helpline for further information.
