Tickets for the celebrity chef demos at Bolton Food and Drink Festival 2013 are set to go on sale.
A special launch event will take place on Victoria Square on Thursday, May 16, marking the official countdown to the four-day foodie spectacular.
The festival takes place from Friday, August 23 to Monday, August 26 and features cooking demonstrations by Britain’s favourite baking duo Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, Italian chef Aldo Zilli and festival favourite James Martin.
Entry tickets to the demos are priced £5 and will be available to buy from this Thursday.
The launch event will open to the public from 1pm until 4pm and will give people the opportunity to find out all about this year’s festival, plus an exclusive peak at what to expect in the form of mini cooking demos by local chefs and performances from jazz band, the Bourbon Street Roof Raisers.
The celebrity chef demos are the highlight of the weekend’s activities and tickets usually sell out fast.
This year Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood will perform in the AGA Rangemaster Cookery Theatre on Victoria Square on Saturday, August 24 at 11am, 2pm and 4pm.
Aldo Zilli will take to the stage on Sunday, August 25 at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, and James Martin will round off the festival on Monday, August 26 with demos at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
The bumper-packed weekend will open on Friday, August 23 by two Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines, who will perform a free demo in the AGA Rangemaster Cookery Theatre at 12.30pm, followed by Asian fusion chef Aazam Ahmad at 2.30pm.
That evening Michael Caines will demonstrate his culinary skills further at a special Gala Dinner at The Albert Halls.
The Leader of Bolton Council, Councillor Cliff Morris, said: “Every year there are hundreds of people who await the Bolton Food and Drink Festival with great anticipation and there is always a feeling of excitement when the tickets go on sale for the celebrity chef demos.
“This year we are delighted to hold an official launch of the tickets in the town centre and give people a flavour of what’s to come in August. We’ve got a challenge on our hands to beat last year’s record visitor numbers, but we are determined to make it a weekend to remember.
“I would urge people to book their tickets as early as possible as they usually sell out fast.”
The launch event will also feature information on Love Your Local Market fortnight, which takes place across the country from Wednesday, May 15 to Wednesday, May 29.
Bolton’s Victoria Square will host a range of stalls featuring budding entrepreneurs from Thursday, May 16 to Saturday, May 18.
