The Household Waste Recycling Centre in Blackhorse Street, Blackrod, is temporarily closing.
The closure, beginning on Sunday, February 20 at 4pm, is as a result of demolition work being carried out by Bolton Council on a large barn adjoining the recycling facility.
Part of the barn has collapsed and become unsafe and requires immediate demolition.
As the demolition will affect the recycling site, a temporary closure is unavoidable. Work will begin on Monday, February 21.
The closure is expected to last at least two weeks and during this time staff will be on hand to direct users to another facility.
Residents can use the following alternative recycling centres: Hurstwood Court, Raikes Lane Industrial Estate, Bolton; Lester Road, Little Hulton; and Union Road, Union Industrial Estate, Bolton.
All three facilities are open seven days a week from 8am to 6pm and have a height restriction of 6'1''.
