Bolton will be bustling with traders next week when a successful continental market returns to town.
Market Place Europe will bring some of the finest food, drink and craft traders to Victoria Square from Thursday, October 11 until Sunday, October 14.
It comes after the success of the last three continental markets that the company has held in Bolton.
The four day festival will feature forty traders from countries including China; Thailand; India; New Zealand, and South Africa. They will join European stallholders from France; Germany; Russia; Italy; Spain, and Greece to entice shoppers in to the town centre.
Visitors will be able to buy unusual delicacies such as impala, a type of antelope; ostrich; crocodile, and wild boar meat.
Also on offer will be spicy Indian curries; Thai noodles; French pastries and tarts; a Greek deli; Spanish Paella; Jerk chicken; a German beer tent, and a traditional German salami and sausage house.
Baklava and sweet cakes from the Middle East; Dutch pancakes; French cheeses; Belgian chocolates, and Italian nougat will also entice shoppers.
Fashionistas can browse stalls selling pashminas; hats and scarves; French knitwear, and Swarovski crystal and jewellery.
Traders will also be selling a range of Fairtrade African arts and crafts, Chinese and Thai gifts, and Dutch plants and bulbs.
Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Community and Neighbourhood Services, Councillor Akhtar Zaman, said: “The continental market has proven very popular and successful on its previous visits. We know it’s an event that’s guaranteed to bring people in town, boosting the local economy in the process.
“We know from our very successful Food and Drink Festival that people enjoy coming to food markets. An array of continental produce and cuisine will be available to sample and buy at this event and I would encourage everyone to come along.”
Director of Market Place Europe, Allan Hartwell, added: “There will be lots of delicious goods available on our stalls and you can literally taste your way around the world with some of the foods we have on offer. We know that the continental market is popular in Bolton and we are pleased to bring it back.”
Trading times are from 9am to 5.30pm and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
