Stand up and be counted

Bolton’s residents who want a say in the forthcoming general and local elections are being advised to make sure they are registered to vote.

The local elections for Bolton Council take place on Thursday 6 May, but as yet no date for a general election has been called – however it must be on or before Thursday 3 June.

The closing date to register on the electoral roll and to apply for a postal vote for the local elections is 5pm on 20 April. The deadline will be the same for the general elections if the election is held on 6 May.

Households should have received a reminder in October last year to check their details, but if you didn’t or are not sure if you returned it please contact 01204 338024 to check you are on the register. Only people registered will be able to vote and apply for a postal vote.
