A £7.3 million project to resurface St Peter’s Way has been completed three weeks ahead of schedule.

The whole length of St Peter’s Way, from the Kearsley roundabout to Topp Way, has been fully resurfaced.

The work was carried out overnight between July 4 and September 7, with a final closure for cleaning the road overnight on Saturday night.

The contractors carrying out works were local firms Bethell Construction Ltd, Eric Wright Ltd, Aggregate Industries and Kays Traffic Management.

Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, Cllr Elaine Sherrington, said: “We would like to thank both motorists and residents for their patience whilst the works were carried out.

In an effort to minimise disruption we planned the work to be carried out overnight, when traffic flows are at their lowest.

Our contractors worked as quickly and efficiently as possible to finish the work and we are pleased that it has been finished much earlier than planned.

Now the work is complete, it means that a key route in and out of Bolton is in a good condition for years to come.”

The scheme is being funded from a £5.8 million government grant from the DfT which was awarded to the council after a successful bid. The council has also invested £1.5 million into the project.
